When the title of this single was announced, I had my doubts because temari translates to “handball”. I feared that this single would be another cute one like LALALA or Sakura Chirari. After hearing the preview, I still had my doubts about whether or not I liked this single. Now that the PV is out, I have come to a conclusion. I fucking love this song and PV.
The PV opens with Airi striking a pose, which automatically makes me like the beginning. They start dancing and Maimi starts off the singing with a HEY! Then, right when I expect an Airi solo, Erika gets a solo! I’m surprised that they actually let someone else get a line, but I keep listening. Saki gets a solo, which is not as surprising because Saki sort of got a solo in Namida. Airi finally gets her solo, and it rules. Her “E~ E~” line is cool. They do a little bit more dancing and Airi starts off the next set of solos with a HEY HEY! Maimai, Kanna and Chisato get solos and Chisato owns her line.
The PV is very fitting of the style of the song. The girls wear modernized kimonos and dance in a very different way than normal. The main highlight of the PV was the backup dancers (and Airi). I think this PV was amazing compared to Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance. I could make the same complaints as I did about Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance, here, actually. I said in my review, “This is basically a dance shot…They have close ups, regular outfit shots and monkey outfit shots.” Well, isn’t Edo no Temari Uta II basically a dance shot with some close up shots? The difference in this PV is the design, the background, lighting, basically everything. Why couldn’t Berryz Koubou have something like this? Their outfits look amazing in my opinion and they actually get a song that doesn’t make my ears want to kill themself.
One of the things many bloggers (including myself) are going nuts over is the line distribution. There are eight solo lines in this song, and everyone gets one. Airi gets a second line because there are only seven members, and I’m not complaining about that. It’s pretty surprising that everyone got a solo line, but you can read other blogs to hear about that. What I’m thinking about is what this might mean for C-ute. I noticed that the people that got solo lines in the first portion of the song were Maimi, Erika, Saki and Airi (in that order). Is this implying that those four are the main singers? Maimi and Airi were pretty obvious, and Saki has been getting a couple lines in their latest singles. Erika got some solo shots of herself lying on the ground in the PV for Namida, which none of the other members besides Maimi got. Erika also got to sing her solo song during the Berryz versus C-ute concert, too. I predict that the future leads of C-ute are going to be these four girls, based on the treatment they’ve been getting. I hope that Chisato also gets some attention, since she got one of the longer solo lines in the second portion.
All in all, this PV was great, the song was great, and Airi was great. I’m glad I actually wrote some paragraphs instead of just ranking each portion this time! Maybe I’ll become a better writer eventually. If I did do a ranking of this, it would definitely have gotten a 10/10. Well, maybe a nine, because that dance is pretty weird when they start spreading their legs.
By now, I didn’t read this entry, coz I haven’t watch the pv yet. I’ll read it when I finish coz I don’t want it to be spoiled. Sorry. But from the title, it sounds promising! (^o^)
